“Poetry is the opening and closing of a door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during the moment.” – Carl Sandburg
Recent Honors:
One of the poems from my latest collection, In the Palms of Angels, has been chosen by former U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, who also happens to be my favorite poet–to be included in his wonderful American Life in Poetry column, sponsored by the Poetry Foundation, in 2013. It is tentatively scheduled to be published in January. I am incredibly honored and thrilled!
Also, my new poem, “At the Bowling Alley,” was one of twenty poems chosen (from 2,000 submissions world-wide) to be included in the 2013 Poet’s Market, published by Writer’s Digest Books. Again, I am very honored to be among those chosen.
It is a joy and a blessing to have any success at all, doing the thing you love to do…and writing poety is my meditation and saving grace. That others appreciate my work means more to me than I can tell you!
I hope you enjoy my site… I know it needs work, but I am not exactly a technical genius. It is a miracle, actually, if I can load staples in a stapler!
Peace and love,
Terri
Terrific site. I love all of the information, reviews, etc.
Terri, I caught your piece on WFDD yesterday — a delight! Surely everyone who heard it was inspired to pick up a book of poetry and start cultivating some new favorites.
p.s. It was a joy to read with you in Hickory this fall . . . BILL
No! LOL Terri, I love it!
Crack me up! I might read it out loud tonight . . . if Linda promises not to throw a Turkey at me!
Congratulations on having your poem selected for the American Life in Poetry column. I had the pleasure of meeting Ted Koozer several years ago when he was the keynote speaker at the Wyoming Writers annual conference. I sat next to him at the book signing, and he was quite pleasant. At the time, I was trying to sell my first book, a novel entitled We Shall Overcome, and I hoped that my proximity to a poet laureate would increase my book sales, but that was not to be. Everyone gravitated toward him, and I was ignored. I have since published a collection of poems entitled How to Build a Better Mousetrap: Recollections and Reflections of a Family Caregiver. You can read more about that and me on my blog at http://abbiescorneroftheworld.blogspot.com By the way, I enjoyed reading your poem, “Woman on the Phone” on yourdailypoem.com
